Why Active Essentials?

There are lots of options when choosing skincare- so why choose Active Essentials?

We offer SAFE natural & organic skincare MADE FROM ONLY FRUITS, VEGETABLES, PLANTS & FLOWERS and disclose 100% of our ingredients and what they are used for.

Many other "natural & organic" skincare brands claim to be natural but are not.

A company can market their ingredients as “natural” because they are derived from a natural ingredient, but then mix them with a chemical. For example: Cocamide DEA, or cocamide diethanolamine, is a diethanolamide made by reacting the mixture of fatty acids from coconut oils with diethanolamine. Cocamide DEA (a known cancer-causing ingredient) has been listed on many products claiming to be "coconut oil". So on an ingredient list, it would look like this: Cocamide DEA (Coconut Oil)

The chemical, cocamide diethanolamine (Cocamide DEA), a chemically-modified form of coconut oil used as a thickener or foaming agent in many products, was listed by California as a known carcinogen in 2012.

(Here is a list of almost 100 companies that use this toxic ingredient in their "natural" products.) http://ecowatch.com/2013/08/29/cancer-causing-chemical-in-shampoos/

Most consumers would look at that ingredient and see coconut oil next to it, and assume it's safe. This is problematic because companies hide behind this type lot product labeling with MANY different chemicals, not just Cocamide DEA.

When looking at a products ingredient list, look for ingredients you are familiar with. If it were pure coconut oil, it would say Coconut Oil or Cocos Nucifera (Coconut Oil's international name). If the ingredient is something you can barely pronounce and looks like it may be a chemical- is most likely is. If you are questioning an ingredient, google it. There is so much information available on the internet. People are becoming much more conscious of ingredients present in their food and skincare than they used to be.

ALWAYS CHECK PRODUCT INGREDIENTS. Don't just rely on the brands name or advertising. Just because it is a well known and trusted brand, doesn't mean that it's safe. Marketing plays a very important role in our society and lots of companies hide behind it.

For example, the well-known and trusted brand Johnson & Johnson has been used for generations and has recently been found to use cancer causing ingredients in their baby products. Below are some links where you can read articles and watch videos to learn more about it.
